Oceania Bunkering Adds Pipeline Services at 3 Mozambican Ports | Mariner News

Trust Score: 93

Oceania Bunkering Mozambique has introduced pipeline bunkering services at the ports of Beira, Nacala, and Pemba, significantly enhancing marine fuel supply capabilities for vessels calling these key Mozambican hubs. This expansion aims to provide a more efficient and reliable solution at a time when marine fuel availability remains a notable challenge across the region.

Mphalhane Chone, head of bunkering at Oceania Bunkering Mozambique, stated that the new service is specifically designed to reduce unnecessary delays and improve operational flexibility for ships. Pipeline bunkering offers distinct advantages over traditional ship-to-ship (STS) operations, primarily through increased delivery predictability and reduced susceptibility to weather-related disruptions.

This strategic enhancement in bunkering infrastructure at three of Mozambique’s principal ports is poised to improve vessel turnaround times and overall port call efficiency. For shipping lines and charterers, the ability to reliably take on fuel alongside cargo operations can translate into substantial savings in port stay and enhanced voyage planning certainty. The new pipeline services complement Oceania Bunkering’s existing STS operations at Beira Anchorage, where it deploys the 4,283 DWT barge Great Wall Energy 1 for LSMGO supplies, further diversifying and solidifying bunkering options within Mozambique.
