Verde Marine Energy Adds HSFO Bunker Barge | Mariner News
Verde Marine Energy (VME) has expanded its physical bunkering operations in the ARA region and the UK by adding a dedicated bunker barge for High Sulphur Fuel Oil (HSFO) supply.
This strategic addition follows the commencement of VME’s collaboration with Sunoco Marine Ltd on October 1. The move highlights a clear intent to enhance service for vessels equipped with exhaust gas cleaning systems, cementing VME’s presence in key European bunkering hubs.
VME has broadened its barge fleet to serve clients in Flushing, Terneuzen, and Ghent. This physical infrastructure investment in HSFO supply underscores the continued, albeit specific, market demand for traditional fuels, providing crucial operational flexibility for a segment of the global fleet relying on scrubbers for IMO 2020 compliance.
Concurrently, VME is pursuing a diversified energy strategy. The company has also strengthened its position in the biofuels supply market, having successfully delivered thousands of metric tons of B100 to customers across the ARA region via both barge and truck. This dual approach is further supported by the addition of sustainability expert Christian Sterken to its team.
Further bolstering its market reach and operational efficiency, VME has made two key appointments from Melroh Trading BV: Robbert Huizer joins as Head of Sales, and Tim Visser takes on an operations and sales role.
