Thenamaris ConBulk, part of the Nikolas Martinos-owned Thenamaris group, has placed an order for four 3,200-TEU containerships with China’s Hengli shipyards, signaling a substantial strengthening of its presence in the container segment.
Deliveries for the new vessels are scheduled for 2028, according to shipbroking sources. Each ship will feature a deadweight capacity of 41,200 tonnes, measure 199.9 meters in length with a 35.2-meter beam, and be powered by an Everllence main engine.
This move marks a significant strategic pivot for Thenamaris ConBulk, which currently operates 24 bulk carriers alongside just two containerships. The addition of four newbuilds indicates a clear intent to broaden its operational scope and market footprint in container shipping.
The investment also reflects a broader diversification strategy for the Thenamaris group. The company recently ordered three 113,300 dwt LR2/Aframax tankers from Dalian, with those deliveries slated for late 2028 and early 2029, further expanding its fleet internationally across multiple shipping sectors. The concurrent newbuild orders underscore the group’s long-term capital commitment to fleet renewal and expansion.
