TFG Marine Expands MFM Fleet on US Gulf Coast | Mariner News
TFG Marine has equipped two additional bunker supply barges operating in the US Gulf Coast with Mass Flow Meters (MFMs), further solidifying the push for enhanced transparency and accuracy in regional bunkering operations.
The Buffalo B414 and Buffalo B304 barges recently received ISO 22192 certification for their newly installed MFMs, TFG Marine announced in a LinkedIn post yesterday. These meters are designed to improve the precision of bunker quantity measurements, fostering greater confidence for customers regarding delivered fuel volumes.
This latest deployment is part of TFG Marine’s ongoing strategy to roll out MFM technology across its bunkering fleet in the region. The move follows the company’s expansion of its physical supply operations on the US Gulf Coast in May last year, shortly after which it installed an MFM on its first barge in the area.
This consistent investment in certified MFM technology by TFG Marine, a significant market player, is likely to intensify competitive pressure on other US Gulf Coast bunker suppliers. Companies not offering comparable MFM-equipped services may find themselves at a disadvantage as buyers increasingly seek verified quantity assurance.
For vessel operators, the expanded availability of MFM-equipped barges in the US Gulf streamlines the bunkering process by minimizing disputes over delivered volumes. This can lead to faster turnaround times at port, reducing operational costs and improving schedule adherence in a high-traffic maritime corridor.
