Piraeus Hosts Chinese Port Executives for Training | Mariner News
The Piraeus Port Authority (PPA) recently hosted a Chinese delegation of port, shipping, and logistics professionals as part of a structured knowledge and experience exchange programme. The visit was conducted under the auspices of the 3rd Advanced Training Programme in Innovative Management for Senior Port and Shipping Executives, organised by Shanghai Maritime University.
Senior PPA executives, including Chairman Han Chao, welcomed the delegation. They provided an overview of Greece’s largest port, detailing its operations, infrastructure, and management practices. This initiative offered participants direct insight into Piraeus’s operating model.
This high-level engagement goes beyond a typical port visit, representing a deliberate effort to facilitate the transfer of operational and management expertise. For Chinese port and shipping sectors, such programmes offer a direct channel to absorb best practices and innovative management strategies from a significant European gateway port, potentially influencing development and standardisation across their own extensive networks and global investments.
The structured nature of the training programme suggests an objective to leverage Piraeus’s operational successes as a learning model, reinforcing its strategic role within broader Chinese maritime and logistics supply chain strategies.
