Gold Star Line Launches Dedicated Rail Service from ICD Dhirpur to Mundra

Gold Star Line (GSL), in partnership with Hind Terminals and Threeline Logistics, has launched a dedicated rail service connecting Inland Container Depot (ICD) Dhirpur in Kurukshetra to Mundra Port. The service, which commenced on November 2, 2026, aims to streamline the movement of export cargo from the hinterland to major international markets.

The new rail link is specifically designed to support export flows destined for Haiphong, Vietnam, and Port Klang, Malaysia. By establishing a direct rail-based gateway, the collaboration seeks to bypass the inefficiencies often associated with road-based hinterland transport, providing exporters with a more predictable transit schedule to Mundra’s maritime terminals.

The shift toward dedicated rail connectivity suggests a strategic effort to mitigate the congestion risks inherent in the high-volume throughput currently seen at major Indian ports. As Mundra continues to serve as a primary hub for Southeast Asian trade, the integration of ICD Dhirpur into a dedicated rail loop allows GSL to exert greater control over the landside leg of the supply chain, effectively reducing dwell times for containerized exports.

This development aligns with broader trends in Indian logistics, where operators are increasingly prioritizing rail-linked inland infrastructure to handle surging cargo volumes. For shippers, the move signals a transition toward more structured multimodal solutions that prioritize reliability over the variable costs of traditional trucking, particularly for time-sensitive trade routes to key Asian transshipment hubs.
