d’Amico Tankers Acquires MT High Fidelity MR Tanker | Mariner News
d’Amico International Shipping SA, through its operating subsidiary d’Amico Tankers, is set to acquire the 50,000-deadweight-ton medium-range (MR) tanker MT High Fidelity for approximately $14.0 million, exercising a purchase option under a bareboat charter agreement.
This move signifies d’Amico Tankers’ strategic commitment to bolstering its owned fleet, converting a chartered asset into direct ownership. The acquisition provides the company with greater operational control and long-term stability for the vessel’s employment, removing future charter rate volatility for this specific asset.
The MT High Fidelity, built in August 2014 by Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard in Vietnam, represents a relatively modern addition to the company’s fully owned fleet. Acquiring the vessel at a pre-determined option price could indicate a proactive asset management strategy, potentially locking in a favorable valuation and optimizing fleet costs.
d’Amico Tankers is expected to take full ownership of the MT High Fidelity around mid-January 2027, with the final acquisition price subject to slight adjustments based on the actual delivery date.
