X1 Wind Secures Strategic Funding for Floating Wind Rollout | Mariner News
X1 Wind has successfully completed its fourth strategic funding round, significantly accelerating the commercialization pathway for its floating wind technology. The operation, led by Grow VP, which now holds approximately 8% of the share capital, also marks the strategic entry of Avançsa with a similar stake.
This latest investment round, which also included the conversion of instruments from existing shareholders such as Technip Energies, EIC Fund, and CDTI Innvierte, underscores a robust commitment to transitioning X1 Wind from technology validation to full commercial deployment.
The diverse nature of the funding – combining venture capital, public investment, and continued backing from strategic partners – signals increasing investor confidence in the commercial viability and scalability of disruptive floating wind solutions, moving beyond speculative R&D towards market rollout.
This transition is already underway with the NextFloat Project, which involves the deployment of X1 Wind’s X100 8.5MW platform at the PlemCat test site in Catalonia, Spain, with manufacturing slated for 2027. The project’s progress is built on calculation methodologies validated during X100 certification.
Looking ahead, X1 Wind has secured contracts for its larger X150 version, designed for 15-20MW turbines, across major projects in both Europe and Asia. This rapid scaling from a demonstrator to commercial-scale projects points to an escalating demand for specialized fabrication, heavy-lift, and offshore installation services within the maritime sector, potentially intensifying competition among technology providers and specialized service operators as the market matures globally.
