Everllence has launched Engine Supported Air Lubrication (ESAL), a new technology that integrates hull air lubrication with air drawn from the vessel’s main engine. This development promises net efficiency gains of up to 6%, directly addressing operational cost pressures and environmental targets by significantly reducing fuel consumption and emissions.
The company highlights that ESAL provides value irrespective of future fuel choices or regulatory developments. This positions the technology as a versatile solution for an industry navigating an uncertain decarbonisation pathway, allowing owners to enhance efficiency without committing to specific alternative fuels or facing evolving carbon pricing schemes.
With multiple onboard trials already conducted across several vessels, ESAL’s ability to reduce fuel consumption translates directly into lower absolute emissions and decreased exposure to volatility in both fuel prices and evolving compliance costs.
