Acta Marine Christens Methanol Dual-Fuel CSOV | Mariner News

Trust Score: 95

Acta Marine has officially christened its methanol dual-fuel construction service operation vessel (CSOV), Acta Hercules, marking a further step in the adoption of lower-emission propulsion in the offshore wind sector.

The Rotterdam-based maritime support provider announced the christening this week. The Acta Hercules was delivered earlier this year as the second in Acta Marine’s four-vessel newbuild CSOV program. It is operating under a long-term charter for Vestas, supporting offshore wind operations.

Fitted with methanol dual-fuel engines and a battery energy storage system, the vessel is designed for lower-emission operations. This commitment by Vestas to a long-term charter for such a vessel signals a clear preference from major offshore wind players for support craft that align with their own sustainability goals, likely influencing future chartering requirements and competitive dynamics for offshore vessel owners.

Acta Marine has also taken delivery of Acta Pegasus and Acta Gemini, with the fourth vessel, Acta Aquarius, expected later this year. Once Acta Aquarius is delivered, the company’s fleet will comprise seven dedicated walk-to-work and construction service operation vessels.
