Trøim’s Second Tanker Company Lists Quietly on Oslo Growth | Mariner News
A second tanker company backed by Tor Olav Trøim has quietly listed on the Oslo Growth Exchange, setting the stage to raise financing for an order book comprising eight Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs).
The focus for the newly listed entity is primarily on securing attractive financing for its substantial newbuilding program. This development was confirmed by Vidar Hasund, CFO at OMC Tanker and sister companies Bruton and Himalaya Shipping, who spoke with ShippingWatch following the listing on August 28, 2026.
The new company will be managed separately by the same six-person team that oversees Trøim’s other shipping ventures, Bruton and Himalaya Shipping. This lean, experienced management structure suggests an efficient operational model leveraging existing expertise across multiple distinct entities.
The strategic choice of a quiet listing on the Oslo Growth Exchange, rather than a higher-profile main market debut, points to a targeted approach for capital acquisition. This method likely aims to secure specific investor profiles and optimize financial terms for the high-capital commitment of eight new VLCCs.
This move reinforces a pattern seen with Trøim’s previous initiatives, such as Bruton, which ordered supertankers and later split into two firms as it received its first vessel. The creation of a distinct entity for a significant newbuilding project, with a dedicated financing mandate, allows for ring-fenced capital raises that minimize cross-project risk and enhance financial flexibility.
