CMA CGM has named the 15,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship Alceste, further expanding its fleet of alternative fuel-capable vessels. The naming signifies a continued commitment to decarbonization, with the newbuild set to join the company’s BEX2 service under Captain Li Qiang WANG.

The Alceste is part of a series of six methanol dual-fuel ships for the French carrier, underscoring a strategic fleet transition. This latest addition follows the delivery of another methanol-fuelled container ship to CMA CGM just last month.

The consistent deployment of such large-capacity vessels, specifically within the container segment, reinforces the sector’s leading role in methanol-fuelled newbuild orders.
