Boosting Green Methanol Supply Chains

Japanese energy firm Eneos will spearhead efforts to review efficient procurement and supply pathways for low-carbon methanol, including sourcing green methanol from C2X’s upcoming Beaver Lake Renewable Energy facility in Louisiana. This plant, projected to begin operations by late 2028 with a substantial capacity, will be crucial for securing sustainable fuel for the shipping industry.

Collaborative Expertise for Sustainable Shipping

The consortium leverages diverse expertise to build this essential marine fuel infrastructure. NYK Line will apply its experience from LNG bunkering to support the development of specialized methanol bunker vessels. Seacor contributes vital Jones Act operational insights and engineering capabilities, while class society ABS provides essential class and regulatory support to ensure safe and efficient methanol bunkering operations in the US.

This collaborative endeavor by ABS, Eneos, NYK Line, and Seacor is designed to accelerate the maritime industry’s transition to a carbon-neutral future.
