ThPA S.A.: Visit of German delegation

Today, a German delegation visited ThPA S.A., with participants including Mr. Oliver Luksic, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Digital and Transport of Germany, Monika Frank, Consul General of Germany in Thessaloniki, Athanasios Kelemis, General Manager and Board Member of the German-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, executives from Duisburger Hafen AG (Duisport), and representatives of German companies.

The delegation was welcomed at the Administration Building by the Executive Chairman of the Board of ThPA S.A., Athanasios Liagkos, and the Chief Commercial Officer & Strategic Communications Director, Theodora Riga. During the visit, the German delegation had the opportunity to learn about the present and future of ThPA S.A. and its activities as a port directly connected to major North European ports through the company’s 3D interactive model. Following that, the progress of the Development Plan regarding the port’s infrastructure, equipment, and services was presented, as well as ThPA S.A.’s strategy for expansion into the hinterland.

The working meeting took place within the framework of the 88th Thessaloniki International Fair, with Germany as the honored country. The discussions focused on Greek-German cooperation in the fields of international trade, logistics, and digital transformation. The constructive exchange of views on cargo flows in the wider region of Southeast Europe and the role of ports in these flows highlighted the importance of mutual benefit initiatives and actions for both countries.

Mr. Luksic, after thanking ThPA S.A. for the warm hospitality and tour of the port facility, expressed his intention to actively contribute to promoting joint actions between the two countries, supporting cooperation between Greek and German ports, and German companies involved in maritime transport and logistics.

Mr. Liagkos thanked the visitors, emphasizing: “Strengthening Greek-German cooperation is crucial for achieving a competitive European shipping industry with strong ports. Aiming at green and digital transformation, both countries have excellent opportunities for mutually beneficial synergies and strategic partnerships in the port sector.”
