TFG’s Vilma Oil Med Expands Ceuta Bunker Services | Mariner News
Vilma Oil Med, a key subsidiary of global bunkering giant TFG Marine, has announced a significant expansion of its Ceuta bunker operations. This strategic move solidifies the company’s presence in the critical Strait of Gibraltar region, enhancing its capacity to serve the growing demand for diverse marine fuels and sustainable shipping solutions from the Port of Ceuta.
Enhanced Fuel Supply and Biofuel Capabilities
The expansion dramatically boosts Vilma Oil Med’s capabilities, with storage at Ceuta now reaching approximately 120,000 m3. The firm has also upgraded its ex-pipe delivery systems and introduced a new IMO II chemical tanker. This state-of-the-art vessel is specifically designed to supply advanced biofuel blends, including up to B100, alongside traditional marine fuels such as HSFO, VLSFO, and MGO. This broad offering positions Ceuta as a versatile hub for vessels navigating the Mediterranean.
Strategic Growth in a Key Maritime Hub
Ernesto Fernandez-Maquieira, director of Vilma Oil Med, highlighted the importance of this investment, stating, “We are pleased to grow our offering in the region and remain committed to continued investment in Ceuta.” He emphasized Ceuta’s strategic significance within the Strait of Gibraltar, aiming to develop it into a competitive and innovative bunkering destination. This expansion follows TFG Marine’s acquisition of a majority stake in Vilma Oil Med in December 2024, signaling a long-term commitment to enhancing maritime fuel services in the region.
