Stena RoRo has announced a significant 5-year charter contract with Marine Atlantic, Canada. This strategic agreement involves the vessel A Nepita, previously known as Superfast X, which will enhance crucial maritime transport services in Canada. The ferry charter is set to commence service in the fall of 2026, following a period of essential customization to meet the specific operational demands of its new routes. This deal solidifies Stena RoRo’s position as a leading provider of tailored RoRo shipping solutions.
Vessel Customization and Readiness for Canadian Routes
To prepare for its new role, the A Nepita will undergo significant modifications. These include adjustments to ship-to-shore ramp arrangements, a new livery reflecting Marine Atlantic’s brand, and a comprehensive 5-year preventive maintenance program. Currently operating for Corsica Linea in the Mediterranean, the A Nepita is well-equipped for challenging conditions. It boasts an ice-class rating and superior maneuverability with three bow thrusters and one stern thruster, making it ideal for the demanding Canadian maritime environment.
Boosting Marine Atlantic’s Passenger and Vehicle Capacity
This new charter contract will see the A Nepita deployed to bolster Marine Atlantic’s capacity to transport both passengers and commercial vehicles.
