Shipping: More S&P Deals Coming Through


More and more deals are being reported in the S&P market, as things are starting to heat up. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa said that “in the Ultramax segment NORD MAGELLAN 63,000 dwt 2020 Iwagi built (SS due 2025 BWTS fitted) was reported sold to Meghna Group for $29,2 mln, $3,3 mln less than ERIN MANX 63,000 dwt 2020 Tsuneishi built that changed hands back in November. After offers were invited last week, the Supramax JASMINE 56,000 dwt built 2012 Mitsui built (SS due 2025 BWTS fitted) was reported sold at $17,5 mln. In November Sistership INDIGO OMEGA was purchased by Greek buyers for $300,000 less. It was an active week in the tanker market. Starting with the sale of the VLCC ROLIN 308,000 dwt 2005 Samsung built at $31 mln, last month a similar vessel DHT SCANDINAVIA 317,826 dwt 2006 Hyundai built was sold for $43,30 mln. AMAX ANTHEM 115,000 dwt 2011 Samsung Built (SS due 2026 BWTS fitted) was sold at $39,5 mln, different price level of October 2024 where similar vessel FOS PICASSO 115,000 dwt 2009 Samsung built was sold at $42 mln. In the chemical sector TORM HELVIG 46,000 dwt 2005 STX built was sold for $18 mln. DH GLORY 13,000 dwt 2020 Nantong built was sold for $ 25,3 mln to Chinese buyers. Similar vessel, one year younger, DH HONESTY was purchased at $25,6 mln at the beginning of this year”.

In a separate note this week, shipbroker Xclusiv added that in the dry bulk segment, “on the Capesize sector, the “Global Enterprise”- 177K/2010 Namura was sold via purchase option for USD 29 mills to Korean buyers basis DD due. Chronos Shipping sold the Kamsarmax “Kleisoura” – 81K/2017 JMU for excess USD 28 mills. Same owners sold also the “Athina II”- 82K/2015 Sanoyas and the “Volos” – 82K/2014 Sanoyas for USD 25 mills and USD 24.5 mills respectively to Greek buyers. The Ultramax “CMB Rubens” – 64K/2018 Shin Kasado found new owners for mid/high USD 27 mills, whilst the Supramax “Prabhu Mihikaa”- 56K/2005 Oshima was sold for mid USD 10 mills to Vietnamese buyers basis SS/DD due. Finally, the Handysize “Rojarek Naree”- 30K/2005 Shikoku changed hands for USD 8.5 mills”.

Meanwhile, in the tanker market, “UK based buyers acquired the Suezmax “Nordic Apollo” – 160K/2003 Samsung for USD 22.5 mills. The Aframax “Crude Centurion” – 113K/2010 New Times was sold for USD 33 mills. On the MR2 sector, the “Nord Himalaya” – 50K/2011 Onomichi found new owners for excess USD 25 mills. Last but not least, the Small tanker “AB Serena” – 13K/2008 Jinse Shipbuilding was sold for region USD 11 mills to Indian buyers”, Xclusiv said.

Meanwhile, in the newbuilding market, Banchero Costa said that “in the LNG segment, Danish based company Celsius Shipping placed an order for 1 + 2 x 180,000 cbm at Samsung. The price is estimated at $261,5 mln, delivery expected in mid 2027. In the tanker segment, DH Shipbuilding secured an order of 2 x Suezmax from Sun Enterprises of Greece at $90.5 mln each. Deliveries expected 1H2027 and mid 2027”, the shipbroker concluded.
