Sarbananda Sonowal and Shantanu Thakur to address ASEAN–India Cruise Dialogue 2025 today
CHENNAI : Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Shri Shantanu Thakur, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, will address the ASEAN–India Cruise Dialogue 2025 to be held in Chennai today. The high-level dialogue marks a significant milestone in enhancing maritime cooperation and cruise tourism connectivity between India and the ASEAN nations.
The event brings together policymakers, industry leaders, port authorities, and tourism stakeholders from across Southeast Asia and India, aiming to foster collaboration in the expanding cruise tourism sector. Key discussion points include regional cruise circuit development, port infrastructure enhancement, policy harmonisation, and the promotion of sustainable cruise tourism in the Indo-Pacific.
Shri Sonowal is expected to outline India’s strategic roadmap for boosting cruise connectivity and reinforcing economic and cultural links with ASEAN countries under the Government’s “Act East” policy. Shri Shantanu Thakur will also highlight the Government’s ongoing initiatives to modernize ports, promote coastal tourism, and create a favourable ecosystem for cruise operators.
