Sallaum Lines Boosts Fleet with New LNG-Fuelled Vessels | Mariner News

Trust Score: 95

Sallaum Lines is rapidly expanding its modern fleet with the delivery of a second LNG-fuelled vessel, the Ocean Legacy, within a single month. This strategic move highlights the company’s significant investment in sustainable shipping solutions and fleet modernization. Following the Ocean Explorer, the Ocean Legacy reinforces Sallaum Lines’ position at the forefront of maritime decarbonization efforts.

Expanding Sustainable Shipping Capacity

The newly delivered Ocean Legacy, a pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), boasts a substantial capacity of 7,400 units. Built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu), this advanced vessel features state-of-the-art dual-fuel LNG engines. These engines enable operation on both liquefied natural gas (LNG) and conventional marine fuels, offering operational flexibility and significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Driving Emissions Reduction and Efficiency

Sami Sallaum, Chairman of Sallaum Lines, emphasized that these deliveries reflect an “ongoing investment in modern vessels designed to reduce emissions and improve operational efficiency.” This commitment aligns with evolving regulatory requirements and industry standards for greener maritime transport. LNG currently stands as a leading alternative marine fuel, supported by a robust global bunkering infrastructure, making it a pragmatic choice for immediate environmental impact.
