REV LNG Secures Bunkering Deal for Siem Car Carriers in U.S. Northeast
REV LNG partners with Siem Car Carriers to fuel LNG-powered PCTCs in the U.S. Northeast, expanding the operator's regional bunkering network.
US-based REV LNG has partnered with Siem Car Carriers to provide liquefied natural gas to the operator’s fleet of LNG-powered pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) in the U.S. Northeast.
The agreement marks a significant expansion of Siem’s North American bunkering footprint. While the operator has previously utilized Eagle LNG for shoreside bunkering services in Jacksonville, Florida, the addition of a Northeast supply partner indicates a maturing of the LNG supply chain at major vehicle handling ports along the Atlantic coast.
For Siem, securing a regional supplier in the Northeast reduces the operational necessity of timing bunkering calls exclusively with South Atlantic rotations. This distributed fueling strategy provides greater flexibility for PCTCs navigating high-frequency routes between Europe and the United States, allowing for more efficient fuel management based on cargo schedules rather than bunkering geography.
The partnership also highlights the growing specialization of small-scale LNG providers in the U.S. market. As the PCTC sector continues to adopt dual-fuel tonnage—evidenced by recent chartering activity for similar vessels by firms such as Seven Yield—the ability to access reliable fuel at multiple points of call is becoming a competitive necessity for operators managing tight delivery windows for automotive OEMs.
REV LNG is currently expanding its broader energy portfolio, including work with SJI on renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities in Michigan, reflecting a wider trend of gas suppliers diversifying their infrastructure to support the maritime industry’s transition toward lower-carbon fuels.
