Regent Sells Electric WIG Craft to Brazil’s Synerget | Mariner News
Regent Craft, a pioneer in all-electric WIG passenger craft, has announced a significant sale to Synerget, a Brazilian firm specializing in business aircraft sales. Synerget is acquiring 10 of Regent’s 12-passenger Viceroy models, with initial deliveries expected in 2029. These innovative Regent Seagliders are designed for efficient coastwise routes, promising to transform regional transport in Latin America, particularly for bustling port cities like Rio de Janeiro, marking a global shift towards sustainable maritime mobility.
Revolutionizing Regional Maritime Travel
The appeal of Regent’s WIG craft lies in their unique operational advantages. These electric seagliders combine aircraft-like speed with unparalleled dock-to-dock convenience, bypassing congested airports entirely. Operating on purely battery-electric power, they offer zero-emission transport, aligning perfectly with global sustainability goals. Fabio Rebello, CEO of Synerget, emphasized how Seagliders unlock previously impractical regional routes, expanding service offerings.
Cost-Effective and Sustainable Operations
Beyond convenience, these zero-emission WIG craft present compelling economic benefits. Operators can avoid substantial fuel and airport fees associated with traditional air travel. Furthermore, as legally classified vessels, WIG craft can be operated by trained mariners, reducing pilot training and licensing requirements. Designed with advanced automation, they prioritize safety and efficiency.
Future of Electric Maritime Mobility
Regent continues to advance its technology, with the first Viceroy prototype currently undergoing testing in Rhode Island. The company anticipates a full test flight later in 2026, building on previous regulatory approvals. This strategic partnership in Latin America marks a pivotal step in deploying sustainable electric passenger craft, promising a greener, more connected future for regional maritime transport.
