Port of Rotterdam terminal to provide shore power in 2028
APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (MVII) will equip its terminal with shore power from 2028, providing sea-going vessels with clean energy while in port.
Starting in 2028, clean energy will supply sea-going vessels while they are in port, cutting CO2 emissions by nearly 7,000 tonnes annually, along with reducing nitrogen and particulate emissions. The first vessels will be able to use the shore power facilities in 2028 in advance of the European regulations requiring shore power for container ships by 2030.
