Enhancing Global Chemical Tanker Capacity
The new joint venture represents a substantial step forward in providing increased flexibility and capacity to the international shipping market. Harald Fotland, CEO of Odfjell SE, highlighted that Nissen Kaiun contributes a significant fleet of advanced chemical tankers built to the highest quality and sustainability standards. This collaboration reinforces Odfjell’s prominent position as a leading and energy-efficient chemical tanker operator globally.
A Strategic Maritime Partnership for Advanced Tankers
Odfjell Hakata Maritime AS will initially operate a fleet of ten state-of-the-art stainless steel vessels, with an equal contribution from both Odfjell and Nissen Kaiun. Nine of these vessels are already integrated into Odfjell Tankers’ operations under existing charter agreements, with the tenth joining the fleet early next month. This initiative, combined with Odfjell’s ongoing fleet renewal projects, is projected to increase commercial trading days by approximately 12% in 2026 compared to 2025. This long-standing partnership continues to drive innovation and service excellence in the chemical shipping sector.
