NYK Line has announced a significant long-term charter deal with Cheniere Marketing International, a subsidiary of US LNG producer Cheniere Energy, for new dual-fuel LNG carriers. This strategic partnership, also involving Norway’s Ocean Yield, marks a major step forward for sustainable practices in the global maritime industry, enhancing the supply chain for cleaner energy. The advanced vessels are slated for delivery starting in 2028 from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries in South Korea.

Built with a 200,000 m3 membrane-type tank, these state-of-the-art LNG carriers are designed to meet future environmental regulations. Crucially, they will be equipped with advanced dual-fuel LNG engines from Swiss maker WinGD, allowing them to operate on both liquefied natural gas and conventional marine fuels.
