
NYK, Cheniere Sign Long-Term LNG Carrier Charter | Mariner News
NYK Line has cemented a significant long-term charter agreement for new LNG Carriers with Cheniere Marketing International LLP, a subsidiary of the US LNG giant Cheniere Energy, Inc. This pivotal partnership, also involving Ocean Yield AS, marks a major step for global liquefied natural gas transportation, ensuring stable and efficient energy supply.
Advanced Vessels for LNG Transport
These state-of-the-art LNG vessels will be constructed by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in South Korea, with deliveries anticipated from 2028. Each carrier will boast a substantial 200,000 cubic meter capacity membrane-type tank, leveraging advanced insulating materials for superior efficiency. The ships are designed with a next-generation X-DF2.1 iCER, VCR system, dual-fuel, low-speed diesel engine, and an innovative re-liquefaction system, optimizing the use of boil-off gas during navigation.
Strengthening Global Energy Logistics
This strategic NYK Cheniere deal signifies NYK’s first long-term time charter contract with Cheniere, underscoring a deepening commitment to the liquefied natural gas sector.
