NCT Offshore receives advanced cable laying vessel from Vard
Vard has successfully delivered an advanced cable laying vessel to NCT Offshore, a Danish subsea specialist, less than two years after the initial contract signing.
The delivery of this vessel, based on the VARD 9 01 design, boasts advanced sea-keeping abilities, better station-keeping performance, and low fuel consumption, which are crucial for sustainable subsea operations.
From the cutting of the first steel to the vessel’s assembly, outfitting, and commissioning, the process took less than 18 months.
The vessel is now ready to set sail for Denmark, where it will undergo further fitting and testing. This includes the installation of the remaining cable lay equipment, a subsea package, and the Seaonics W2W gangway system.
The vessel’s construction began at Vard Shipyards Romania – Tulcea and was completed at Vard Langsten in Norway.

With a length of 95m and a beam of 21.5m, the vessel is equipped with state-of-the-art DP2 positioning and seakeeping systems.
It has a bollard pull exceeding 60t and can reach a maximum transit speed of more than 14 knots. The vessel also includes a hybrid package and cable installation equipment capable of handling a total of 4,500t of cables.
The vessel is equipped with a comprehensive SeaQ power and control package, which includes batteries, switchboards, and a shore connection system.
It also features two main cable tanks, a T-ROV hangar, and a walk-to-work system, and is designed to accommodate a large A-frame and provide single-cabin lodging for 60 people.

In October, Vard signed a new contract with Navigare Capital Partners for a custom-built commissioning service operations vessel (CSOV), extending its collaboration with Norwind Offshore.
Based on the VARD 4 19 design, the CSOV will be built at Vard Vung Tau, Vietnam, and is set for delivery in the second quarter of 2027.
