MSC has reportedly struck a $1.2 billion shipbuilding deal in China. Specifically, the company has placed an order for up to six LNG dual-fuel megamax containerships from China Merchants Heavy Industries’ Haimen shipyard.

Each of the new 22,000 TEU vessels is estimated to cost over $200 million, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027, according to market sources.
