Monjasa Boosts In-House Crew Management & Training | Mariner News

Trust Score: 95

Global marine fuel supplier Monjasa is taking a significant strategic step by bringing its crew management operations entirely in-house. This pivotal move, executed through its sister company Montec, aims to strengthen control over its maritime personnel and enhance the development of its skilled seafarers across a fleet of 35 delivery vessels. The company is actively investing in the future of its maritime talent pool.

Enhancing Seafarer Development and Training

Monjasa has established three new crucial maritime partnerships to support its expanded in-house capabilities. These collaborations include agreements with the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP), the Escuela Naval de Cadetes “Almirante Padilla” (ENAP) in Colombia, and a dedicated cadetship program with the Namibian Maritime and Fisheries Institute (NAMFI). These initiatives are designed to foster a robust pipeline of qualified officers and cadets.

Addressing Global Seafarer Shortages

The company acknowledges an overarching global shortage of skilled seafarers, a challenge Monjasa is proactively addressing. Their ambition is to significantly improve both the recruitment and retention of maritime professionals across its diverse operations in the Americas, West Africa, the Middle East, and Northwest Europe. By managing crew internally, Monjasa seeks to ensure consistent quality and loyalty within its ranks.

This strategic shift builds upon existing partnerships with institutions like the Sharjah Maritime Academy in the UAE and several academies in Latvia, underscoring Monjasa’s commitment to developing top-tier seafaring talent for its dynamic fleet operations.
