Intellian Technologies Inc. and Network Innovations have formalized a strategic partnership aimed at jointly developing and distributing next-generation tactical ground Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) flyaway terminals. The collaboration focuses on delivering advanced connectivity solutions primarily for military and government sectors.

The new flyaway terminal platform integrates Network Innovations’ two decades of operational experience, notably in supporting military and WGS customers in demanding environments. It is engineered to be the first system capable of simultaneous Mil-X, Mil Ka-band, and Commercial Ka and Ku-band connectivity, featuring electronic switching across an extended range of Ka-band frequencies.

Purpose-built for the WGS constellation, the system promises secure, resilient, high-capacity communications vital for expeditionary forces and critical deployments. These deployable systems are designed for rapid operational readiness, achieving full functionality in as little as 30 minutes.

A significant implication of this development is the platform’s advanced design for multi-band and multi-orbit operations, spanning LEO, MEO, GEO, and HEO constellations. Crucially, the system is also being designed for interoperability with leading and emerging satellite networks, as well as sovereign NGSO constellations. This capability suggests a strategic move towards enhanced communication autonomy and resilience for national military and government assets, reducing reliance on singular commercial or international satellite infrastructures and bolstering independent communication pathways in sensitive operational contexts.

The terminals are being engineered to meet rigorous standards, including full WGS certification and compliance with key MIL-SPEC requirements, underscoring their suitability for harsh operational environments. Intellian also plans to introduce non-WGS commercial variants derived from this advanced platform.
