Indonesia’s Biomass Pyrolysis Accelerated by Rekind | Mariner News
PT Rekayasa Industri (Rekind), alongside Advanced Energy Solutions (AES) and RINA, has forged a strategic partnership to significantly accelerate the development of biomass pyrolysis technology in Indonesia. This landmark collaboration, confirmed at The Carbon Digital Conference (CDC) 2025, marks a pivotal step towards leveraging Indonesia’s vast biomass potential for sustainable energy solutions. The initiative aims to drive the commercial-scale production of vital renewable products, fostering a robust clean energy transition across the nation.
Advancing Sustainable Bio-Energy Production
This ambitious partnership focuses on transforming organic materials such as agricultural waste, wood, and palm shells into valuable outputs. Biomass pyrolysis, a thermal process conducted in the absence of oxygen, efficiently breaks down these resources into three primary products: bio-oil, syngas, and bio-char. Bio-oil offers a renewable fuel source or a base for chemical products, syngas can generate electricity, and high-quality bio-char supports agriculture and various industrial applications.
Fueling Indonesia’s Green Future
Rekind’s CEO, Triyani Utaminingsih, emphasized the strategic importance of this venture, stating it will unlock Indonesia’s enormous biomass potential. By processing these abundant resources into renewable energy and high-value products, the collaboration not only enhances energy security but also champions sustainable development. This collective effort underscores a commitment to environmental stewardship and economic growth, positioning Indonesia at the forefront of bio-energy innovation.
