Great Eastern Shipping Sells Jag Vishnu VLGC in Q4 FY26 | Mariner News
Great Eastern Shipping Company (GE Shipping) has announced a strategic move to optimize its fleet, contracting the sale of its 2002-built Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), Jag Vishnu. This 77,922 cbm vessel is slated for delivery to an unaffiliated third party by the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026 (Q4 FY26). This divestment highlights GE Shipping’s proactive approach to capital deployment and fleet composition within the global shipping industry.
Strategic Fleet Optimization
The sale of Jag Vishnu is an integral part of GE Shipping’s ongoing fleet enhancement strategy. Currently, the company manages a robust fleet of 39 vessels, comprising 25 Tankers (crude, product, and LPG carriers) and 14 Dry Bulk Carriers across various segments, aggregating 3.17 million deadweight tonnes (dwt). This strategic move allows for more efficient allocation of resources.
Future Fleet Composition
Alongside the Jag Vishnu sale, GE Shipping has also contracted to acquire one second-hand VLGC and one second-hand Ultramax Dry Bulk Carrier, while agreeing to sell the Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier Jag Aarati. All these purchase and sale transactions are expected to conclude in Q4 FY26. Post-transactions, GE Shipping’s owned fleet will remain at 39 vessels, maintaining its diversified portfolio and capacity, underscoring the company’s commitment to modern and efficient maritime operations.
