Navatrade S.A. was founded in 1981 in Piraeus by George Sklavounos and Niki Frantzeskaki-Sklavounou, along with partners Michalis Gkiokas and Nikos Palavidis. From the very beginning, it was one of the pioneering shipbroking companies in Greece. Today, based in Maroussi, it continues to operate exclusively in dry bulk cargo chartering. The company maintains a wide international network, holds panelist positions on key global accounts, and also undertakes exclusive commercial management of selected vessels.

George Sklavounos was born in 1940 in Salamina. Those who knew him describe him as a charismatic businessman who was passionate about passing on his knowledge to the younger generation. His innate insight and extensive experience in the shipping industry allowed him to recognise the need for building a team of capable brokers who could meet the demands of both shipowners and charterers. This vision led to the founding of Navatrade, which, thanks to his foresight, now counts 44 years of operation. Throughout his life, he supported countless friends and colleagues in their careers and contributed significantly to the education of many. He was a strong advocate for the development of young professionals, always encouraging them to progress with solid foundations and values – values that align perfectly with those of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

The scholarships offered by Navatrade S.A. are not only a touching tribute to the memory of George Sklavounos, but also a clear example of the value of synergy between the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers and the shipping community. Through such initiatives, the connection between education and the shipping industry is further strengthened, and the development of new professionals in the field is actively supported. ICS Greek Branch expresses its deep gratitude and invites all interested individuals to take advantage of this meaningful and honourable opportunity.
