Superyacht ‘Breakthrough’ Crowned Ship of the Year

Royal van Lent/Feadship’s nearly 119-meter superyacht ‘Breakthrough’ received the Maritime Ship of the Year Award. This pioneering vessel is the first Twin Azipod hybrid diesel/hydrogen-electric superyacht, featuring over 3 MWh of fuel cell power. The jury lauded its innovation and the company’s commitment to sharing this advanced technology, setting a new benchmark for sustainable maritime engineering.

Recognizing Broad Maritime Excellence

Further accolades were awarded for diverse advancements. Edwin de Hoog earned the Maritime Talent Award for optimizing sand-water mixture transport in dredging. Breman Innovation’s ‘Eye Catcher’ secured the Maritime Innovation Award for its remote, ‘hands-free’ lifting solution, crucial for challenging environments like wind farms. Silvan Floor received the Maritime Achievement Award for inspiring future nautical professionals, while Teun van Schriek’s AI-driven research for submarine detection, directly improving Royal Netherlands Navy and NATO tactics, earned the Maritime Security Award. These honorees underscore the breadth and depth of Dutch maritime ingenuity.
