DNV Maritime Celebrates 25 Years of the Maritime Service Centre in Greece
DNV Maritime proudly marks the 25th anniversary of its Maritime Service Centre in Greece, a significant milestone that reflects the Centre’s longstanding commitment to supporting the maritime industry.
Since its establishment, the Maritime Service Centre has played a pivotal role in offering specialized maritime services and solutions to shipowners across the Southeast Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. Over the past quarter century, the Maritime Service Centre in Greece has been instrumental in delivering a wide range of services for existing ships and newbuildings, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and operational excellence for DNV customers.
Among the Centre’s key offerings are:
· Ships in Service Plan Approval – Ensuring regulatory compliance of existing ships.
· Newbuilding Pre-Contract Services – Providing expert guidance for shipowners during their early discussions with the yards on regulatory compliance, forthcoming new regulations, etc.
· Condition Assessment Programme (CAP) – Evaluating hull, machinery, and cargo handling systems in tankers more than 15 years of age.
· Maritime Academies – Delivering up-to-date training to industry professionals.
Milestones and achievements
Over the years, the Maritime Service Centre in Greece has delivered remarkable achievements, such as:
· Approved over 850 ballast water treatment installations
· Approved Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM) for more than 300 vessels
· Carried out approval of GHG related projects of more than 2,000 vessels
· Executed tens of thousands of approvals for alterations and manuals related to hull, piping, stability, statutory matters, and more.
· Successfully approved more than 40 complex double hull tanker conversions, including VLCC-to-VLOC transformations
· Provided hundreds of pre-contract services for newbuildings to customers in the region
· Executed more than 500 CAP Hull and 300 CAP Machinery and Cargo Handling projects
· Recognized with the SMART4SEA 2020 Training Award for excellence in maritime training.
