Trust Score: 95

Diana Shipping Inc., a global owner and bareboat charterer of dry bulk vessels, has secured a new time charter contract for its Kamsarmax dry bulk vessel, the m/v Astarte, with Aquavita International S.A. The new agreement substantially increases the vessel’s daily earnings, marking a significant commercial uplift for the company.

The gross charter rate for the m/v Astarte is set at US$17,000 per day, minus a 4.75% commission paid to third parties. This contract is scheduled to run from its expected commencement on September 20, 2026, until a minimum of September 1, 2027, and a maximum of November 15, 2027. This employment is anticipated to generate approximately US$5.81 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period.

The new rate represents a robust 36% increase over the vessel’s previous gross charter rate of US$12,500 per day with Propel Shipping Pte. Ltd. Beyond the higher headline rate, Diana Shipping will also benefit from a marginal reduction in commission, from 5.00% to 4.75%, further enhancing net earnings. This improvement in charter terms suggests a favorable market for Kamsarmax dry bulkers for contracts extending into late 2027, indicating a positive outlook by both owner and charterer for the segment.

The 81,513 dwt Kamsarmax vessel, built in 2013, is one of 36 dry bulk vessels in Diana Shipping Inc.’s fleet.
