Faced with limited onshore facilities in Nuuk and a desire to avoid burdening local infrastructure or tourist accommodations, Danish Defence chose this innovative maritime housing solution. The Ocean Endeavour, an Arctic-exploration outfitted ship, offers a ready-made, self-sufficient base. This approach ensures that the influx of military personnel during the year-long exercise does not strain local resources or interfere with civilian life in the capital.

Exercise Arctic Endurance Details

Exercise Arctic Endurance, planned since last year, has notably expanded to include broader NATO participation. Nations like France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, the Netherlands, Iceland, and Belgium will join Denmark’s Arctic Command in this vital training. The comprehensive military exercise involves Danish F-35 fighter aircraft, transport planes, French MRTT aerial refueling aircraft, and various naval vessels.
