Cosco’s traffic through Piraeus port on the rise

Cosco Shipping Ports have shown signs of recovery, with data confirming the increase in container traffic.

Despite the decline in container traffic from the Piraeus Container Terminal in April 2025, the overall picture in the four months is positive.

Specifically, from piers II and III of the Piraeus Container Terminal, 1.337 million TEUs were handled between January and April 2025, compared to 1.272 million TEUs during the same period last year, recording an increase of 5.1%.

The 6.7% drop in April 2025 compared to the same month last year is mainly attributed to cyclical fluctuations in cargo.

A total of 318,000 containers were handled from piers II and III managed by the Piraeus Container Terminal, compared to 341,000 in the same month of 2024.

As of May 15, a 15% discount on transit fees is provided for cargo ships with a net capacity of more than 130,000 tons, a measure that will be valid for a period of 90 days.

At the same time, the US-China agreement to reduce tariffs has given new impetus to international trade, strengthening the flow of cargo.
