Cargo ship carrying grain gets struck by missile

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a Russian missile has struck a civilian vessel carrying Ukrainian grain in the Black Sea, after it had left Ukrainian waters. 

The vessel on 12 September, while it was en route to Egypt. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. According to Reuters, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha condemned the attack, calling it a “brazen assault” on freedom of navigation and global food security.

To remind, Ukraine has been exporting around four million tonnes of grain monthly through its Black Sea shipping corridor, established in August 2023 following Russia’s withdrawal from the UN and Turkey-brokered Black Sea Grain Initiative.
