Greek shipping giant Capital Clean Energy Carriers has placed a significant order for three state-of-the-art LNG carriers from HD Hyundai Samho in South Korea. This strategic move, valued at $769.5 million, underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its fleet of liquefied natural gas transport vessels. The contract was officially announced, marking a major investment in advanced maritime technology for cleaner energy transport.

Boosting Clean Energy Transport Capacity

The delivery schedule for these sophisticated newbuilds is set for Q3 2028 for the first vessel, with the subsequent two expected in Q1 2029. Capital Clean Energy Carriers emphasized that these modern LNG carrier vessels will boast upgraded specifications, positioning them among the most efficient globally. Their superior fuel consumption and boil-off rates will ensure environmentally sound and cost-effective transport of natural gas, supporting the transition to cleaner energy solutions.

Strategic Fleet Expansion and Market Outlook

With this latest procurement, Capital Clean Energy Carriers now commands an impressive fleet of 12 operational LNG carriers, complemented by nine additional vessels currently on order. CEO Jerry Kalogiratos expressed confidence in the acquisition, stating, “We have secured attractive pricing and payment terms for state-of-the-art, high specification vessels, whose deliveries we expect to coincide with increased demand for LNG shipping from a number of LNG projects that are expected to come online in this timeline.” This expansion strategically aligns with anticipated growth in the global clean energy market and future LNG demand.
