Azra Tech, a sustainable marine technologies company, has announced a partnership with Neptune Shipping, a European and Mediterranean short-sea car carrier operator, to promote environmentally friendly vessel performance.
In July 2022, Azra Tech applied its innovative biocide-free, ultra-low-friction hull coating system to the Neptune Aegli vessel at Odessos Shipyard in Bulgaria.

The coating system, based on proprietary nanotechnology and supported by the Blue Race Performance Guarantee, is engineered to boost fuel efficiency and minimise environmental impact.
Over three years of continuous operation across European ports, Azra Tech’s solution has reportedly achieved noteworthy fuel savings and CO2 emissions reduction, surpassing initial projections.
During a periodic inspection at the Lisnave/Setubal Shipyard, findings showed that the hull’s surface maintained a low level of roughness, indicating the sustained durability and effectiveness of the applied coating.
The performance data aligns with the Blue Race Performance Guarantee, reflecting a mutual commitment to environmentally responsible innovation within the maritime sector.

The coating system is fully compliant with International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations and supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 14 – Life Below Water.
It is environmentally friendly, containing no harmful biocides or active ingredients that could damage marine ecosystems.
The system has been introduced to the Greek and Omani markets through Green Navis, Azra Tech’s exclusive representative in these regions.
