AYK Energy Lands Second Mureloil Marine Battery Deal | Mariner News

Trust Score: 85

AYK Energy has proudly secured a second landmark contract with Spanish ship owner Mureloil, further solidifying its presence in sustainable marine propulsion. This new agreement will see AYK Energy supply its advanced 4.2MWh Aries+ marine battery system to the Bahía Beatriz, an 8,000 DWT product tanker currently under construction. This repeat business underscores the growing demand for electric and hybrid solutions in the maritime sector, particularly for eco-friendly product tankers.

Expanding Mureloil’s Hybrid Fleet

The Bahía Beatriz represents the second Mureloil vessel to integrate AYK Energy’s powerful battery technology. Following the successful installation on the Bahía Candela, both tankers will feature state-of-the-art diesel-electric hybrid systems. These innovative setups are being implemented at the Astilleros de Murueta shipyard, near Bilbao, Spain, showcasing a commitment to cutting-edge vessel design and operational efficiency. The partnership aims to enhance Mureloil’s capacity in transporting sustainable marine fuels, including biofuel and methanol.

Driving Significant Emission Reductions

Adopting these advanced AYK Energy marine battery systems will allow Mureloil to achieve substantial environmental benefits. The hybrid tankers are projected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50% compared to traditional diesel-only vessels. Furthermore, port operations can be conducted entirely on electric power, eliminating local emissions while docked. This move positions Mureloil among the global leaders in embracing cleaner, more efficient shipping practices, setting a new benchmark for eco-conscious maritime transport.
