Ascenz Marorka to install LDA’s RoRo with Voyage Optimisation

Ascenz Marorka, a smart shipping subsidiary of the GTT Group, has secured a contract from LD Armateurs (LDA) to implement its Voyage Optimisation solution on four roll-on/roll-off (RoRo) vessels.

The vessels include three new ships under construction and the operational Ville de Bordeaux.

The Voyage Optimisation technology, specifically designed for wind-powered vessels, aims to enhance the efficiency of LDA’s wind propulsion systems.

The solution provides access to Ascenz Marorka’s Real-Time Fleet Performance Monitoring Centres, where experienced mariners continuously monitor vessel performance and safety.

LDA chose this solution for its ability to integrate wind propulsion systems into the vessel’s digital twin, utilising sail performance data through polar curves, in addition to accurate weather forecasting, and a user-friendly interface.

These features align with LDA’s commitment towards operational excellence, innovation, and decarbonisation, according to the company.

LDA CEO Samira Draoua said: “Choosing the right routing software is a key decision for LDA, it allows us to fully leverage wind propulsion, contributing directly to the reduction of CO₂ emissions, thus delivering the decarbonated service expected by our clients.

“We value our collaboration with Ascenz Marorka and the broader GTT Group in deploying this advanced solution.”

The partnership follows a successful year-long trial, which began with onshore testing in April 2024.

The solution was gradually implemented on the Ville de Bordeaux in early 2025, where it served as a testing platform for transatlantic routes, confirming the digital twin’s accuracy and the system’s usability for crew members.

GTT chairman and CEO Philippe Berterottiere said: “We are proud to support the digitalisation of LD Armateurs’ fleet with Ascenz Marorka’s Voyage Optimisation solution.

“By integrating wind propulsion systems into our advanced digital platform, we demonstrate the power of cutting-edge technologies to boost operational performance and accelerate the decarbonisation of maritime transport.”

In 2022, Ascenz secured a contract with a major European ferry operator to implement its Smart Bunkering solution on two vessels.
