Adrian Tolson, a prominent figure in the marine energy sector, is set to assume the pivotal role of Chairman for the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA) board. This significant leadership transition, effective April 1, marks a new era for the global bunker industry. Tolson, founder of the renowned consultancy 2050 Marine Energy, brings extensive expertise to IBIA, an organization central to advocating for the marine fuel supply chain worldwide. His appointment underscores IBIA’s commitment to robust industry representation and innovation.
New Leadership and Strategic Direction
Tolson will succeed Constantinos Capetanakis of Starbulk, who has successfully expanded IBIA’s membership, particularly among bunker buyers, since April 2024. This change at the helm is anticipated to further strengthen IBIA’s strategic direction, focusing on key challenges and opportunities within the maritime fuel landscape. The association plays a crucial role in promoting best practices and fostering collaboration across the global bunker supply chain, addressing future fuel demands and regulatory shifts.
Key Appointments to IBIA Board
Complementing Tolson’s leadership, the IBIA board sees several other critical appointments. Jeroen de Vos, Global Head of Operations at Peninsula, steps into the Vice Chair position, while Mustafa Aslan, Chairman of Asmira Group, takes on the role of Honorary Treasurer. Additionally, new board members elected for three-year terms include Claudia Beumer (C4 Fuel), Gianmichele Campanella (Fratelli Cosulich Monaco), Calvin Chung (Chimbusco Pan Nation), and consultant Nigel Draffin.
