First Newbuilding Orders of 2025 Now Signed


The first newbuilding orders of 2025 have been contracted, while activity in the second hand market remains brisk. In its latest weekly report, shipbroker Banchero Costa said that “in the dry market, the Chinese company Everbright Financial Leasing placed an order for 10 x Kamsarmax at Jiangsu Hantong Shipyard for an undisclosed price. Deliveries are scheduled to start in the second half of 2026 and end in the second half of 2030. The vessels are understood to on a long term charter to Cosco Shipping that will hold purchase options. In the tanker segment, Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore received an order from the UK based Union Maritime for 4 x 23,500 dwt Product Tankers. Deliveries are set for the end of 2027”.

Meanwhile, in the S&P market, shipbroker Xclusiv said that in the dry segment, “on the Kamsarmax sector, the “Pan Clover” – 81K/2012 New Century was sold for low USD 16 mills. The Panamax “K. Faith” – 76K/2002 Sanoyas found new owners for excess USD 6.6 mills. Greek buyers acquired the Ultramax “Omishima Island” – 61K/2013 Iwagi for USD 19.5 mills. On the Supramax sector, the “My Fair Lady” – 50K/2011 Oshima was sold for USD 15 mills to Far Eastern buyers. Last but not least, the Handysize “Brabus” – 28K/2000 Tsuneishi Cebu found new ownership for low USD 4 mills”.

In the tanker market, “on the VLCC sector, the Scrubber fitted “Rolin” – 309K/2005 Samsung was sold for USD 30.5 mills. Bangladeshi buyers acquired the Aframax “Nissos Delos” – 116K/2012 Samsung for USD 45.3 mills, we understand the deal was agreed some months ago. Moreover, the Scrubber fitted CPP LR2 “Suvretta” – 109K/2008 STX was sold for USD 31.5 mills to Chinese buyers. Finally, the MR2 “Oriental Diamond” – 51K/2008 SPP and the “Oriental Gold” – 51K/2008 SPP changed hands for USD 20.5 mills each”, Xclusiv concluded.

Banchero Costa added that “after offers were invited last week the K FAITH 76,000 dwt 2002 built Sanoyas (SS due Oct 2027, DD due Nov 2025) was sold at low/mid $6 mln to Chinese Buyers. The 2 years younger MYTHOS 74,000 DWT 2004 Namura (SS/DD passed last year) was reported sold at $8,5 mln to Vietnamese buyers. After offers were invited at the end of last year, the Japanese controlled Ultramax OMISHIMA ISLAND around 61,000 dwt 2013 built Iwagi (SS/DD due Sep 2025) was reported sold at $19,5 mln. On the tanker side the NISSON DELOS 115,000 DWT 2012 built Samsung (SS due 2027 DD due Aug 2025) was sold to undisclosed buyers in Bangladesh at $45.30 mln. The LR2 SUVRETTA around 115,000 dwt 2008 built STX (SS due 2028 DD due Sept 2026) was reported sold at $31.50 mln to Chinese buyers”, the shipbroker concluded.
